LORD of the STREETS is here...

*Update: The reviews I am getting from my online friends (owners of this beast machine) about this bike are truly amazing, guys on other big bikes like pulsars, CBZ xtreme, and even Karizma are turning their heads to  have a look of this bike. People who know least about bikes are also amazed by the looks of the bike.
The rear Tyre and silencer are very attractive, and makes the bike more muscular and a true macho machine. The tyres and overall shape of the bike adds to better control of the bike.
Yamaha is easily going to rule the roads for next few months !

And even the visitors on this web page as compared to other pages of this website are almost 10 times in the last 15 days, which shows a heavy demand and a huge popularity of the bike among the people.

As it was already planned, that it's a do or die situation for Yamaha, with heavy losses in Indian bikes market, with very few bikes launched here, so this year Yamaha has brought some real quality products to India from its collection.

After the Yamaha R15, here comes a very stylish product from Yamaha-India. The bike may be proven a strong competition for Hero-Honda Hunk, and also to other Indian bikes of this segment like Bajaj Pulsar. Although the pricing is pretty high at Rs.70K +, but as compared to the looks, features and specs of the bike, it may be proven a threat to many other Indian bikes. Moreover being a 150cc bike, a 40-50 mileage can be expected from it, which is also very advantageous for the bike and will definitely add to the sales of the bike.

The specifications are as follows:
ENGINE
Engine type Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve
Displacement 153.0cm3
Bore & Stroke 58.0 × 57.9mm
Compression ratio 9.5:1
Starting method Electric starter
Clutch type Constant mesh wet multiplate
Ignition type CDI
Transmission type Return type 5-speed
CHASSIS
Frame type Diamond
Suspension (front/rear) Telescopic / Monocross
Wheelbase 1,335mm
Brake type(front/rear) Hydraulic single disc / drum
Tire size (front/rear) 100/80-17 / 140/60-R17
DIMENSIONS
Length × Width × Height 1,975mm × 770mm × 1,045mm
Seat height 790mm
Wheelbase 1,335mm
Minimum ground clearance 160mm
Dry weight/Curb weight 126 kg / 137 kg
Fuel tank volume 12 liters
Engine oil volume 1.2 liters

The bike has been priced at Rs.65,000 (ex-showroom), and around 71,500(INR) on-road price.

@ Aryan
You can expect a 40+ mileage, atleast after all the free services.....But in most of the reviews, that I have read up till now, I think people are already getting 40+ mileage.

i own one and driving it for two days, done just 50kms. Its really nice bike. One problem though with the gears. I found same problem with other yamaha model enticer. The problem is gear is stuck sometimes. And second is the carier bar, its not like the current trand, its totally new thing.

everything else is fine.

Yes problem, while shifting gears (4th and 5th), is reported by many other users too. But that doesn't mean that the problem is common to ignore it. So at ur first service, do tell those guys about this problem.
@ iam
Heating up of engine is ofcourse normal...do not touch it immediately after ur ride.

In this bike yamaha has compramised power(14 bhp) for torque(14NM). i went for test drive. this bike beats all XTREME,hunk and pulsar initially. but after 80kph hunk and CBZX have better acceleration. but the bike looks simply awesome.
it would have been better if it was about 5k to 7k less priced...........................

Hey, i also faced the same issue of rustling coming from the front disc. Its not normal and I had it fixed by a Yamaha engineer. It seems that they had wrongly assembled the disc. I suggest that u fix the issue before it gets worse.

Posted on January 20, 2009 at 1:02 AM

Thanks Raj...for informing others about the issue !

Hi! I had purchased a brand new FZ-16, on the onset of the New year. I am very happy with the performance of the bike. I am happy that the company would soon be launching its Accessories and apparels. I saw a very slick jacket, in the catalogue, and the dealer has already ordered the same for me. I shall be getting the same by next week. I was really excited about it. But yesterday, in my college library, i was just browsing through magazines, and came accross this ad by yamaha in some magazine. There, they mentioned that we should wear Joe Rocket Jacket and Gloves worth 11000 and 4000, where as my jacket was only for 6500, now am very confused. Yamaha is promoting Joe Rocket apparels or company apparels???

Posted on February 2, 2009 at 10:50 PM

They wud be getting higher commission from joe rocket dude, and most probably if it costs more, then it wud better too, but finally it depends completely on the budget of the buyer, so if you think 15K buck is not a big deal for you then go for it, otherwise I think you must be getting a cool jacket even in 6.5K !

Posted on August 31, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Well do not go for FZ16 now....either buy fz-s or even better Yamaha Fazer. And if you do not care for mileage then you may buy pulsar 220cc too.
Here's a comparison between Pulsar, Fazer and Apache.

hi am gonna buy fz16 can anyone say is there is an option of installing kicker in that bike and how???????? wats the exact millage of that bike??? plz help me out in this>>>>>>>>>>

Posted on September 22, 2009 at 3:01 PM
shashi

there is no kicker option for the bike, mileage of fz-16 and fz-s is around 25km to 38km mileage in city condition and 35km to 42km mileage under highways.

my fz-s is giving only 26 km mileage in city condition
if i drive it between 30 to 50 kmph speed.

I have already done more than 8000k in this bike,,, great pleasure in long drives ,came to blore frm chennai with this one, it can hit 110 km/hr max (with out any vibrations) but if ur travelling with partner it goes oddly 95km/hr. But mileage on the lower side max 35 for me,, And in blore i face starting woes with the battery

Posted on September 27, 2009 at 11:49 AM

GOOD POINTS : NOT BEST BUT BESTEST IN 150 OR 180 CLASS, IF U DRIVE 45-55 KM/HR IT GIVES 45-50 MILEAGE. NOW PROBLEAMS: SMALL PIL SEAT, ODD NUMBER PLATE, LENGTH IS TO SHORT, SARRI GARD LOOKS ODD& NO KICK.
BEST FOR LONG DRIVES, STUNTING PRICE IS FINE FOR THIS MONSTOR BUT IF YAMAHA WANT 2 STAY IN MARKET FOR LONG REDUCE PRICE.

Posted on October 6, 2009 at 2:53 PM

Headlight: The multi-reflector headlight with transparent lens on the front side provides with perfect illumination.

Dashboard: Yamaha FZ-16 sports fully digital speedometer and all other measuring indicators including the odometer, fuel gauge and the tachometer that have a characteristic of Liquid Crystal Display for clearer vision.bajajs n tvs were doing justice to the ‘ value for money ‘ ??
Think abt the XCD .. they claim it to be the cheapest 125 cc bike …but wats the bhp put put of this 125 cc engine ..mere 9.5bhp ..even the splendour has 8.5 bhp ..( more than 14 year old tech or watever ) ..arent they tryin to fool the cusotmers with this higher cc tag , but nothin offered more than a 100 cc bike..??
The overhyped 220 cc pulsar ..so called oil cooled engine …churnin just 20 bhp and amazingly the max speed of 120km/hr .. ( 10 km/hr more than a Unicorn / p150)
pulsar is only one point up pulsar soots each age catagery
if u want a mantanance free, powrfull bike go for yamaha. yes yamaha...

Posted on October 6, 2009 at 3:18 PM

Yeah Sachin, your points are correct...but presently if we compare within Yamaha I think one should better go for Fazer instead of FZ16 or FZS

All the complaints about this bike are wrong.they are geles of this bike.some donot hav this bike and then also complaining.it will not have any problems if u handle it with care.use it with love.then the mileage of it is 45 to 50/ltr.control the bike in 40 to 45km/h speed.clean the vehicle if there is any impurities.a cleaning kit for bikes is available in markets buy it.if any one wants to buy a bike go for this.then the cost is good on having all these facilities like digital parts tubeless tyr etc

^^ i ve seen people who r more passionate in riding n proud to have this bike ...but then one guy of such kind was forced to let his FZ16 off due to the problems he faced..he loved the bike but u cant get the pleasure of riding when u r pushed to service centre now and then for problems...like his speedometer gone mad after 5000 kms
clutch plate started to work bad in abt 10000kms
and problems in tyre in additional 5000 kms..
and the service also sucks like anything...and now he has got pulsar 220...
I was about to buy this unique creation but after hearing some furture problems faced with this bike...wat wud u think of!!!

Hi Friends,

I'm planning to buy a new bike. Please suggest me which one is good out of the below
1. Yamaha Fazer
2. Yamaha FZs
3. Yamaha FZ16
4. CBZ Extream.
5. Apache RTR 160

Please advice me....

Posted on July 9, 2010 at 7:30 PM

If you want to buy a yamaha product then go for Fazer.
Otherwise Xreme is also a good choice, go for test-drives and see it for yourself - take a bike which is confortable for you and for the person behind you too. Grip on road should be good.
